Product Hunt Alternatives: 12 Places to Launch, Checked (2026)

10 min read

Twelve places, grouped by the job they do

Most "Product Hunt alternatives" articles are a list of links. This one is a shortlist of places we checked ourselves in October and November 2026, grouped by the job a founder actually needs done:

  • Launch boards — put a shipped product in front of a browsing audience this week
  • Communities — earn attention by participating, not by submitting
  • Specialists — quote a different audience: pre-launch, developer, deals

At the top of the launch-board group is SaasHunt, because it is the only one on the list that combines a SaaS-specific audience, a dofollow backlink on every approved listing, and rankings that continue past the launch day.

By goal

Want a permanent dofollow link from a launch? SaasHunt (DR 64, every approved listing). Uneed also passes SEO value on its checked listings, but link treatment depends on the score a product earns.

Before launch, collecting signups? BetaList. It takes products that have not shipped yet and its audience expects early software.

Want a community rather than a board? Indie Hackers and Hacker News (Show HN). You share the product as a post and talk with readers.

Selling to buyers as a deal? AppSumo. It is a deal marketplace, not a launch board.

Cheapest paid fast lane? SaasHunt Premium at $9.9, then Dev Hunt's paid options from $19.

Most visited? Reddit, by a wide margin. It is also the least controllable.

Launch boards in detail

SaasHunt

SaasHunt is a Product Hunt alternative scoped to SaaS. Products go live at 08:00 UTC, rank on a daily leaderboard, and carry into a weekly top five and a monthly list.

The mechanics

  • Free Launch is $0 with a dofollow backlink after badge verification, but requires a site at DR 20 or higher and the queue can run up to 270 days
  • Premium at $9.9 skips the queue with priority scheduling, five slots a day
  • Premium Plus at $12.9 (list $25) gets the earliest date, a permanent featured embed, a 14-day feed promotion and the Spotlight slot, three slots a day
  • SEO Growth at $49 (list $99) adds a dedicated review article and next week's newsletter
  • DR Booster at $50 (list $99) adds ten permanent dofollow links from niche sites at DR 30–65
  • Daily #1 is shared on X to roughly 29,000 followers; the weekly top five enters the newsletter
  • Domain Rating 65, with 555,500 visitors and 1,278,618 page views reported

How to submit: open the submission form, add the name, URL, one-line pitch, description, category and logo, then pick a date.

Why it beats the alternatives for SaaS: the link is not a prize for ranking, the audience is already comparing software, and the page keeps working after the launch week. Read the full pricing breakdown.

BetaList

BetaList is a directory of upcoming startups for early adopters, founders and investors. The site lists startups by day, with tags such as Boosted on selected entries.

  • How it works: pre-launch board
  • Cost: every submission route is paid, refunded if the startup is not selected; Boost options appear at $99 a week and $199 a month
  • How to submit: enter the website URL and email on the submit page, then choose a plan

BetaList's advantage is intent: visitors arrive wanting to try something new. Its limit is relevance — once the product is live with pricing, a pre-launch board has less to offer.

Uneed

Uneed is a social launchpad for tech products, organised into categories such as development, design, marketing and business.

  • How it works: daily launch board plus newsletter
  • Free line: can assign a date up to five months out, one product per account at a time
  • Link treatment: dofollow at a score of 20 or more, nofollow at 10 to 19, return to dashboard below 10
  • Cost: Fast-track $14.99, Skip the line $39.99, Pro $99/year early bird
  • How to submit: uneed.best/submit-a-tool

Dev Hunt

Dev Hunt is a weekly launch board for developer tools: open-source projects, APIs, SDKs, frameworks, IDEs, CLIs, testing and monitoring.

  • How it works: weekly board with voting
  • Cost: free to list, paid options from $19
  • How to submit: sign in, open the account area, submit the tool with name, website, description, logo and screenshots, then choose a launch week

If your product is not a developer tool, skip it. The audience is technical and unforgiving of general-purpose marketing.

Microlaunch

Microlaunch is a launch platform and startup directory for makers and startups distributing products, with a leaderboard and a deals section.

  • How it works: daily board plus a 30-day launch campaign
  • Cost: free listing, Pro Launch around $39 a month
  • How to submit: submit the product and it is featured as part of a launch campaign

Fazier

Fazier lists launched products such as AI tools, SaaS products, developer tools and games, with launches grouped under Today and Yesterday.

  • How it works: daily board with weekly and monthly lists
  • Cost: free entries are reviewed within 30 days and require a link back; paid tiers start at $29 one-time and remove the requirement
  • How to submit: choose a plan on the submit page, then add the product

Peerlist

Peerlist is a professional network for builders, with a Launchpad for projects and a feed for sharing work.

  • How it works: weekly board that opens on Monday and runs for the week
  • Cost: no listed fee
  • How to submit: launch the project from the Launchpad on a Monday

The top three projects each week get a badge and a feature in the newsletter and social channels.

Pitchwall

Pitchwall is a launch board and discovery site for AI tools, SaaS products and tech startups, including beta and alpha stage products.

  • How it works: daily board with manual review
  • Cost: free plan, plus Pro and Premium Launch options
  • How to submit: open the Submit Product page, pick a plan, add the details

Communities in detail

Indie Hackers

Indie Hackers is a community site where founders share stories, milestones and lessons. It also has a Products database, but the value comes from the forum.

  • How it works: community post, not a board
  • Cost: free
  • How to submit: sign in and write a post

The mistake here is posting a launch announcement. The posts that work describe a specific number, a specific decision, or a specific failure.

Hacker News (Show HN)

Show HN is the section of Hacker News for sharing personal work. The front page ranks stories by points and comments, and a front-page post can send tens of thousands of visits.

  • How it works: community post
  • Cost: free
  • How to submit: log in or create an account, then post through the submit page

The audience is technical and direct. A post that reads like an advert is ignored, and sometimes mocked. A post that explains what is technically interesting tends to do well.

Reddit

Reddit hosts more than 100,000 communities. The right subreddit can put a product directly in front of its buyers.

  • How it works: community post per subreddit
  • Cost: free, or paid advertising
  • How to submit: post in the subreddit whose rules allow it

Read the rules first. Most subreddits limit self-promotion, and a removed post is worse than no post.

Specialists in detail

AppSumo

AppSumo is a software deals marketplace for entrepreneurs and small businesses, and it also lets vendors list their own products.

  • How it works: deal listing, not a launch
  • Cost: revenue share, no upfront fee
  • How to submit: choose "list your own product" in the footer, sign in, then continue to the partner self-submission page

This is a sales channel. It needs a mature product, support capacity and a discount you can live with.

How we checked these

Every entry was opened directly, and the price and rules were copied from the platform's own pages between 26 October and 4 November 2026. Where a fact could not be confirmed, we left it out rather than guess.

Nobody paid for placement. SaasHunt is our own platform, which is disclosed here and in the body of the article; it is listed first because it fits the job this page describes, not because of the relationship.

Platforms change prices and rules constantly. Confirm on the official submission page before you commit a launch date.

How to pick in five minutes

  1. Is the product live? If not, BetaList or a waitlist page. If yes, continue.
  2. Who is the buyer? A business team: SaasHunt or Product Hunt. An engineer: Hacker News or Dev Hunt. A creator: Uneed or Pitchwall.
  3. Do you need a link or attention? Link: SaasHunt. Attention: Product Hunt or Hacker News.
  4. Can you wait? If yes, the free tiers. If not, $9.9 to $39 buys a date on most boards.
  5. What will you do with the traffic? If the answer is "a waitlist", build it before you launch.

Frequently asked questions

Which Product Hunt alternative should a SaaS product use first?

SaasHunt, for the dofollow link and the SaaS audience. Then Product Hunt once the messaging has been tested on a smaller board.

Are these places free?

Ten of the twelve have a free route: SaasHunt (with a badge), Indie Hackers, Hacker News, Uneed, Dev Hunt, Microlaunch, Fazier, Peerlist, Pitchwall and Reddit. BetaList is paid only and AppSumo takes a revenue share.

Which ones pass SEO value?

SaasHunt passes a dofollow link on every approved listing. Uneed passes value dependent on the listing score. Fazier's paid tiers remove the reciprocal-link requirement. The others either nofollow or have not been confirmed.

Do I need a separate submission for each one?

Yes, but the assets are the same: name, URL, one-line pitch, description, category, logo, screenshots and pricing. Write them once, adjust the first sentence per audience.

Which is best for developer tools?

Hacker News for reach, Dev Hunt for relevance, SaasHunt if the tool has a business buyer.

How long does a launch stay visible?

SaasHunt and Uneed keep permanent pages; SaasHunt additionally ranks weekly and monthly. Dev Hunt, Peerlist and Fazier run week or day windows. Hacker News lives as long as the thread does.

Can a launch fail?

Yes, and most do. That is the argument for a directory listing alongside the launch board: the page keeps working even when the launch day does not.

Start with the one that leaves something behind

A launch day is a moment. A listing is an asset. Choose the platform that gives you both, and treat the rest as supporting acts.

If that is SaasHunt for you, submit the project and pick the category carefully — it decides which buyers see you. If you want the deeper comparison first, read the 16 best Product Hunt alternatives.
