PitchWall Submission Guide: What to Prepare First

PitchWall is a pitch-style community where founders post what they are building and get reactions. Good for early feedback and a small amount of interest.

The short answer

Submit to PitchWall if its category page is indexed and the listings beside yours are followed. Skip it if a site: search on the directory returns nothing — a listing on an invisible page is a form you filled in, not a citation.

Before you touch the form

Read three recent posts and count the replies each one drew. A pitch community lives on the replies, and a board where posts get none is a place to publish and forget.

Submitting, in order

  1. Write the problem sentence
  2. Write the outcome sentence
  3. Choose the category
  4. Post with a screenshot
  5. Reply to questions

What PitchWall is

A community board where founders publish product pitches, browsable by category and recency. The submission form is on pitchwall.com.

One thing that catches people out

Write the pitch as a problem and an outcome, in two sentences. Pitches that open with the product name get skipped.

Mistakes that waste the submission

  • Submitting before the pricing page exists
  • Filing the product under a category with no comparable tools in it
  • Reusing a logo that fails the card’s aspect ratio
  • Never returning to the listing, so a broken link stays broken
  • Counting citations as link equity

Checking what you actually got

  • Load the listing in a private window, as a stranger would
  • Check the screenshot or logo renders at the size the card expects
  • Inspect the outbound link, not the button, if it routes through a redirect
  • After six weeks, run a site: query on the listing URL
  • Record followed or not followed — that field predicts value

Where SaasHunt fits

The other half of this decision is timing. SaasHunt takes submissions for a fixed 08:00 UTC go-live, so the listing goes on a calendar instead of a hope list. Approved listings are dofollow; paid tiers from $9.9 skip the queue, and $49 adds a newsletter slot.

Two sentences, then stop

A pitch board is a place where people decide in one glance whether to reply. The problem sentence earns the second sentence; the second earns the question.

Anything after that is read only by those already interested, which is fine — they are the ones who matter, and they will ask.

Replies are the ranking

Boards that sort by activity reward conversation, not eloquence. A post with nine replies stays visible for days; a better-written post with none disappears by evening.

So the goal of the copy is not to impress, it is to provoke a specific question. Ask one at the end and the thread starts itself.

What a good pitch post looks like

A stated problem in the reader's words, one sentence on what you built, one sentence on who it is for, and a screenshot of the thing working. Four elements, no adjectives.

The most common failure is starting with the product name, which means the reader has to work out whether the problem applies to them before deciding to care.

The screenshot that earns a question

Show the moment the product does its job, not the dashboard's empty state. An empty product looks like an unfinished product, and nobody asks about unfinished products.

If the value is invisible in a still image — an integration, a background job — screenshot the output: the notification, the document, the report.

Answering the first three comments

The first three replies set the tone of the thread. Answer them quickly, in full sentences, and concede the valid criticism rather than defending.

Founders who argue in public get fewer comments afterwards, and the thread becomes a record of the argument rather than of the product.

What this community does not do

It does not send meaningful traffic, it does not pass link equity worth counting, and it does not substitute for a launch on a board with reach.

What it does is produce the two or three objections you will hear for the next year, early enough to fix them cheaply.

Keeping the thread alive

Return to it a week later with the change you made because of a comment. That single update is the difference between a post and a relationship, and it costs two minutes.

FAQ

Is PitchWall a directory?

Functionally, yes — a persisted page with a link. The mechanic is community rather than curation.

Does it send traffic?

Modest amounts around posting day, then almost nothing. The page persists as a citation.
